hey David! Thanks for the comment and yes, Jesus DOES love me *grin*

I'm actually of the opinion that there is no way to be perfect this side of Heaven... I think we're a work in progress the whole way up to the Pearlies. And that includes emotionally. BUT -- we can be healthier emotionally and that's the whole reason I write what I write since there is a lot of truth to emotional wellness being a hallmark for successful relationships. :)

So much to tackle here. Kelli, you always write about interesting stuff and the content is killer as usual :)

To me, I'd say that the "Fat Attitude" conditioning stems from deeply ingrained (disempowering) beliefs that were learned and societal conditioning.

It's our responsibility to lead a healthy lifestyle and take on a healthy attitude.

Speaking from experience, I was never really "fat" - I got "plump" from heavy drinking, smoking and lack of exercise.

I'd say the greatest thing I've discovered were running (to start things off) and then the home workout program P90X.

Don't get me wrong, it's TOUGH as hell, but you get what you put in and the fruits of your labour will show.

All too often we're too impatient to look at the long term vision for how we want to shape our health and our bodies.

Start with the small, and incrementally challenge yourself, pushing yourself outside your comfort zone and on top of eating healthy and getting enough rest.

Anyway, here's a link to my fitness progress (although I've slumped for the last month due to a being sick :( ) to show that destroying a "Fattitude" can be done - http://ow.ly/z1IT

Eric,
I think you've hit the nail on the head by saying healthy and thin are not the same thing. I wish more Americans understood that. Unfortunately, we don't get much cultural conditioning otherwise. Also -- I freaked when the scale went up after I started working out with a new trainer until she explained the whole muscle weight is a real deal thing. Apparently I build it like there's no tomorrow so I really had to let go of what the number on the scale said. :)

Kelli,
The big thing that strikes me is: I think healthy is attractive, but "healthy" and "thin" are not the same thing. I know a number of women who are not the "ideal" weight, but are in good shape. ("Muscle tone, fitness and a positive attitude will overcome a multitude of extra pounds"). Keeping in mind also that if you are living and dying by the scale every day, the numbers may not be encouraging as the fitness level increases(gaining muscle, which is heavier than fat.). Good reason to step away from the scale and go more by how you feel and your clothes are fitting than a number on the scale.
