I think it depends on the situation. If an individual has been hurt/burned too many times it can be extremely difficult to forgive. But in our hearts, Personally I know forgiveness is always the right thing to do. Holding a grudge is just a burden of negativity that will be carried on for who knows, some a lifetime. But if someone learns to forgive, its easier to forget and move on. How can you grow if you can't forgive?

forgiveness is tricky. it all depends on how you deal with it and how the initial afront affects you. In a perfect world you would never let some long ago (or even not so long ago) slight affect your life or the way you live. However, we don't live in a perfect world.

I heard (on either the NPR or BBC) about a study that linked Alzheimers with holding grudges. Then a priest spoke about this news story in his Sunday sermon and how it was spiritually damaging as well. Gunking up the mental and spiritual works.
